Step by Step Installation Instructions
To install Signature FTP Widget you will just need to follow the few simple steps below.
Please read through the complete instructions once before attempting the install.
Step 1 - Install the Yahoo Widget Engine
Because the Signature FTP Widget is developed on top of the Yahoo Widget Engine, this component must be installed first.
It is a quick install and does not require any noticeable system resources.
If you already have the Yahoo Widget Engine installed on your system, you can skip to step 2. Otherwise proceed as follows.
A) Go to http://widgets.yahoo.com
B) Verify that your system meets the minimum requirements
C) Click on the correct link to download for your operating system (big yellow button)
D) A window may appear asking you to "click here" to start download
E) During the install a page will appear with a series of defaults set to make Yahoo your default web page and add a Yahoo toolbar. You will want to uncheck ALL options on this page!
F) Select the Next button for the remainder of the pages
You will notice that Yahoo opens a series of widgets for you.
Most of these you will not want. (Although the Weather widget is cool. You can right-click on that widget and select the "Change Location" menu to view the weather in your area.) To close any widget simply right-click on it and select the Close menu.
You may also want to return to the Yahoo Widgets web site and browse the Widget Gallery for other nice widgets.
Note: Widgets stay open on your desktop and will reopen after a system restart. This is the way they were designed to work.
Step 2 - Install the Signature FTP Widget
Installing the Signature FTP Widget is a snap. Simply download and launch the widget as follows.
A) Click here to download and save the file in the folder where your Yahoo Widgets are stored. On a PC this is usually in "My Documents/My Widgets/". If there is a "Save as type" section on the Save As dialog window, make sure it is set to "All Files" and not "WinZip File".
B) Browse to the folder where the signature FTP Widget was saved to and double click on the "Signature" widget file.
Note: On some systems the file will be converted to a zip file. If this happens you must change the extension from ".zip" to ".widget".
At this point you should see the Signature FTP Widget on your desktop. It should look like the following. Please continue on to Step 3 to configure Signature FTP Widget for first time use.
Step 3 - Configure Signature FTP Widget for Use
Before you can use Signature FTP Widget for the first time you must configure it. The following steps will show you in detail how to setup and personalize to your liking.
A) First you will be prompted to enter your Company ID and Password. (If this window is not automatically displayed after install, see the section at the bottom "Additional Information" for how to access options.) If you do not yet have one, please contact your account manager or send an email request by clicking here. Note: Until you receive your login info, feel free to use a Company ID of "demo" and a Password of "12345" to try out Signature FTP Widget.

B) Next enter your personal information on the User Info pages as shown below.

That's it! You are now ready to use Signature FTP Widget. To send us files, simply drag and drop them onto the desktop widget. The widget will ask you to enter a brief description of the files, select the green check box button, and off your files go. Once the transfer is complete you will be notified of the transfer ID by a popup window and also a confirmation email. Please note that you can drag and drop as many files on the widget as you like. You can even drag and drop entire folders (and sub folders). You may still choose to create zip or sit files to drag and drop to ensure faster transfers. It's completely up to you.
Quick Install
This section offers an abreviated version of the Step by Step install. Only use this if you are very familar with installing applications from the internet.
Step 1 - Install the Yahoo Widget Engine
Go to http://widgets.yahoo.com and make sure you meet the minimum system requirements.
If so, download and install the application following the instructions located on that site.
You may want to uncheck the items on that page that try to set Yahoo as your default home page.
By default many of Yahoo's widgets will open after the install is complete. You can close these by right-clicking on them and selecting the Close menu.
Step 2 - Install the Signature FTP Widget
Installing the Signature FTP Widget is a snap. Simply download the widget here and save it to your Widghets folder (on a PC this is usually in "My Documents/My Widgets/"). Some systems will try to save this as a zip file. Select type of "all files" and ensure the saved file has a ".widget" extension and not a ".zip" extension. Then just browse to the saved file and double click on it to launch Signature FTP Widget.

Additional Information
Signature FTP Widget can also be customized in other ways.
To access the preferences (options) you right-click on the widget and will see a popup menu as displayed below.
The second menu item in the list will allow you to access all options/preferences pages for the widget.
The next set of menu items are shortcuts to valuable information on our web site.
Selecting one of those menu items will launch your internet browser and bring you directly to the page of interest on our web site. Very handy!
Finally, the "Check For Updates" menu will query our web site to see if a newer version of the widget is available
(this also happens automatically each time the widget starts up or your system is restarted).
If a new version is available you will be asked if you would like to upgrade.
If you accept, the latest widget will be downloaded and then the widget will automatically close and relaunch itself.
When you select the "Widget Preferences" menu you can also change other behaviors of the widget.
For example, on the Options page (pictured below) you can change the type of Alert messages you receive.
The default is "Always" which means the widget will notify you of any and all messages.
In this mode you will receive a popup window telling you that the transfer has completed.
You will also be alerted of any error messages.
If you select "Play Sound Only", you will only hear a beep when the transfer is completed but you will still receive popup messages when an error occurs.
Finally, if you select "On Error", you will only be alerted of errors and successful transfers will be silent.
(On this page you can also disable the Description popup box, but we ask that you do not do this as the description you enter about your transfer is very helpul to us.)
On the Window page you can select how your widget window is displayed and behaves.
It is usually best to leave these options as they are, but feel free to experiment.
With "Level of Window" you can choose to do things like have the widget always be on top of all other windows.
And "Opacity" changes will affect the transparency of the widget window. So you could make the window translucent if you would like to see through it.
